Fingerprints of the Gods

I just finished reading the book “The Fingerprints of the Gods” by Graham Hancock. To say the least, it was a very interesting read. Graham puts pieces of history together including maps, the pyramids, and the Mayan calendar in order to accomplish 2 goals. First attempting to prove that there was an ancient and advanced civilization on earth long before us and, second, to warn of the coming cataclysm in December of 2012.
I think that Mr. Hancock raises some very interesting points about similarities between stories and religions across cultures. He also raises some very good questions about the pyramids, their origin, and their nature. The thing that is most interesting to me is that if his guesses are correct, then they Mayans and Egyptians were far more advanced than we could ever imagine. It seems that we are missing something in our historical records. I have no doubt that there could have been a civilization before us, I just don’t think that we can be sure at this point.
The end of the world thing is pretty interesting as well. It seems that in December 2012 the sun’s poles will change once more (apparently they change every 11 years). Supposedly the earth’s may change as well. Add that to the changing of the current age from Pisces to Aquarius (astrology. I know. I don’t believe in it either) and the fact that our Universe will align the way it does once every 26,000 years and you have the perfect material for a book or the end of the world. Take your pick. Personally, from what I’ve read, we don’t have anything to worry about. Even if the earth’s poles do change, we should be fine.
Will the world end in 2012? Probably not. No one really knows. It could have ended yesterday, maybe it will today, or maybe it will tomorrow. That’s in God’s hands. Though, I’m not gonna’ lie here, this freaked me out a bit. I’m old enough to remember Y2K and how that was a bunch of bunk and such, but this seems to rest on a bit of actual science. But then again, so did the planets aligning in 1982 – the year I was born.
I’m warning you now that if you start Googling 2012 that the majority of what you will get as results is scare mongering and money making based on this idea. A couple of good articles that I found are here and here. At the end of the day you really have to let go though. If something really bad happens, can we really stop it? I think it’s all in God’s hands. Thank Jesus.
As for Mr. Hancock and his book, is it interesting and thought provoking? Yes. It is also controversial and full of scare mongering.
